Get In Touch

Let's Meet at HIMSS 2023 in Chicago

Let's plan to meet and discuss Health IT

Primary Areas of Focus

AI, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing

Mobility, Apps, Telehealth, and Remote Patient Monitoring

AI, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing

Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) will significantly alter the health IT landscape in ways that few in the industry understand or are prepared for. Ken has an MA in neuropsychology, worked with neural networks at a start-up in the 80s, with expert systems in the 90s, and with ML and cognitive computing these last two decades. He's been one of the most recognized speakers in health IT on these topics through his analyst work with Gartner, the Advisory Board, and Chilmark. Ken can help you separate the hype from reality and understand where and how these technologies can most effectively be applied.

Predictive and Prescriptive Advanced Analytics

Mobility, Apps, Telehealth, and Remote Patient Monitoring

AI, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing

It's taken healthcare decades to finally get electronic health records in use in most organizations, and to make some progress on interoperabilty.  Now, it's time to leverage this infrastructure by figuring out what the data means, where it is leading us, and what to do about it. This includes patient care, population health, and precision medicine. Ken has engaged with dozens of companies with leading analytics capabilities including Health Catalyst, IBM, Epic and Cerner, and can help organizations through a four-step evaluation process.

Mobility, Apps, Telehealth, and Remote Patient Monitoring

Mobility, Apps, Telehealth, and Remote Patient Monitoring

Incredible advancements with mobility and the capability of smartphones, tablets, medical devices, and sensors are revolutionizing how healthcare is delivered. Ken has been a lead analyst on these topics for multiple analyst firms and has presented dozens of times at events including HIMSS and CHIME. As head of global healthcare for Symbol Technology (now Zebra/Motorola), Ken helped bring early apps such as bar-coded medication administration to the mainstream. Ken can help you develop a mobile strategy and help take advantage of the revolution coming in telehealth and continuous patient monitoring.

EHRs (Enterprise, Acute, Ambulatory, LTC) and Portals

EHRs (Enterprise, Acute, Ambulatory, LTC) and Portals

Mobility, Apps, Telehealth, and Remote Patient Monitoring

Electronic health records have been at the center of health IT for decades, and Ken has been there to see them advance from simple document repositories and claims submission systems to today's enterprise systems that span acute, ambulatory and long-term care environments. He's been instrumental in moving them to increasingly include decision support and have their data be accessible to consumers and other stakeholders through portals and mobile technology. While at Allscripts, he helped organizations deploy EHRs under Stark and Anti-kickback relaxation. More recently he has helped organizations leverage their data for population health management.

Interoperability and Terminology Management

EHRs (Enterprise, Acute, Ambulatory, LTC) and Portals

Interoperability and Terminology Management

Interoperability has proved to be one of the most difficult and pressing problems in health IT - from identifying the right patients, to moving information between different systems, and transforming it to make it useful. Ken served as VP of Business Development at Health Language (now Wolters Kluwer) where he pressed the boundaries of terminology management. At the Advisory Board, he was the lead analyst on health information exchange (HIE) and has facilitated many panels on the topic. At Point-of-Care Partners he serves as the expert on TEFCA. With so many standards, groups, and vendors vying for traction, Ken can help you sort through what approaches have the greatest chance of success.

Process Modeling and Workflow Management

EHRs (Enterprise, Acute, Ambulatory, LTC) and Portals

Interoperability and Terminology Management

Few areas in healthcare have received so much lipservice, yet so little application. Every vendor and user speaks of workflow, yet most systems leave it to users to figure out how to navigate increasingly complex systems. Process modeling and workflow management are ideally suited to identify and reduce unwarranted variability, reduce costs, provide the basis for metrics, and help users operate at their top of license. Ken was Gartner's lead analyst on process modeling across all industries, and can help organizations understand methodology, modeling tools, and cultural challenges.

How Artificial Intelligence is Transforming Medication Management

Speaker: Ken Kleinberg, Practice Lead, Innovative Technologies, Point-of-Care Partners

Artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as a transformational force in health care with global investments projected to exceed $27 billion by 2025, a 44% compounded annual growth rate since 2018. Driving these investments are AI’s potential to improve health outcomes, provide accurate and earlier chronic disease diagnosis and support development of tools for older patients. This session will focus on medication management, highlighting six ways AI is being used today to address persistent problem areas in medication use and conclude with an interactive discussion focused on identifying and addressing development and implementation barriers.

ePrior Authorization Real Benefits:  Reducing Frictional Costs and Speeding Time to Therapy

Speaker: Ken Kleinberg, Practice Lead, Innovative Technologies, Point-of-Care Partners

Who should attend?: Payers, Providers, Life Sciences companies and the stakeholders who support them.

Join us on May 30th for our webinar focused on delivering the high-level findings of our most recent industry report “ePrior Authorization’s Real Benefits: Reducing Frictional Costs and Speeding Time to Therapy.”

Automating the prior authorization process through ePrior Authorization (ePA) will be key to reducing costs, speeding time to therapy and improving patient care, however, there are many complex areas where significant progress is yet to be made, such as with specialty meds, and for procedures, devices, and services.    Point-of-Care Partners gathered our ePA experts and set out to analyze the current state of ePA, imagine its best-case future, and advise organization on the road forward. Our 107-page industry report entitled “ePrior Authorization’s Real Benefits: Reducing Frictional Costs and Speeding Time to Therapy” has 40+ diagrams & tables, 40+ vendor profiles, 90+ references, and actionable advice for stakeholders to take.  Ken Kleinberg will discuss why multi-stakeholder coordination is imperative for successful ePA as well as highlight:

  • Current market conditions and drivers for ePA
  • Required ePA technical components
  • ePA maturity model
  • Future ePA outlook
